Access Plus Racing kept its winning momentum alive with another strong showing at the Batangas Racing Circuit (BRC), as Timothy Joseph “TJ” and Troy Alberto delivered back-to-back victories and double podium finishes in Round 2 of the 2025 Philippine Superbike Championship (PSBK). Facing intense pressure from rivals, the brothers rose to the occasion to extend the team’s lead in the standings — boosted by the 1.5-times points multiplier in effect for the event.
Despite threats of monsoon rain, the weekend remained dry — setting the stage for two action-packed races. In Saturday’s Qualifying session, the older Alberto stormed to pole position aboard the #77 Ducati Panigale V4, while teammate Troy secured P3. The duo split their closest title rival, Marvin Mangulabnan on the Aprilia, who lined up between them in second.
Come the next morning, Race 1 saw TJ get a clean launch off the line to maintain the lead going into Turn 1, with Troy briefly moving into P2. However, Mangulabnan reclaimed the position at the first corner and immediately began to pressure TJ for the top spot. As they passed the race’s halfway point, TJ made a rare mistake, allowing Mangulabnan to momentarily take the lead — but the older Alberto struck back just a few corners later. The battle continued all the way to the chequered flag, with TJ claiming the win by 2.669 secs, while his younger brother Troy delivered a strong performance to complete the podium in 3rd.
Race 2 that afternoon followed a similar pattern, with TJ once again launching into the lead and Troy following suit in P2. The younger Alberto stayed close behind his brother in the early laps while holding off a hard-charging Mangulabnan in P3. After several laps of defending, Troy eventually conceded the position as Mangulabnan set off in pursuit of the race leader. A familiar battle unfolded at the front, but this time TJ held his ground and kept the Aprilia rider behind all the way to the finish. He took the win by just 0.171 secs, while Troy secured another solid 3rd place finish.
With a pair of 1-3 finishes and the benefit of the round’s 1.5-times points multiplier, Access Plus Racing further extends its lead in the 2025 PSBK championship. The series now takes a short break before returning to the Batangas Racing Circuit for Round 3 on July 5/6, where the team will be aiming to carry their winning ways.
Troy Alberto, #69
“I struggled a bit this weekend and didn’t quite have the pace to fight for the win. I tried my hardest to stay with TJ and Marvin, but I just couldn’t hang on. Still, I’m happy to have finished both races and brought home points. It’s a long championship, and on tough days like this, it’s important to manage the risk. I’ll be working hard between now and the next round to improve both my riding and my feeling with the bike.”
