Troy Alberto heads to the two final rounds of the 2023 FIM Supersport 300 World Championship at Motorland Aragon and Portimão after a strong qualifying performance in France and two solid races at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours last weekend.

The #69 rider was on the pace from the first Free Practice session on Friday and carried that speed into the sole grid deciding session on Saturday morning, taking an impressive ninth position to ensure a third row start for both races.

Strong starts in both encounters saw Troy fighting well inside the top ten on both days before a couple of mistakes put paid to his hopes of adding additional points to his championship tally.

Narrowly missing the top fifteen in both races, he finished seventeenth and sixteenth, Troy is optimistic and his SKM Motorsports Team confident of his ability to finish the season in style at the Iberian Peninsula double header which takes place the weekend after next.

Troy Alberto:

“We qualified in P9 which was good, so I was quite happy with the pace we had leading up to the races. Then in race one we were running quite strong in the top ten and things were looking really good but a rider in front of me had engine problems and I got caught behind this rear wheel almost crashed. In the end I was able to catch up to P17, but it was a big shame as we lost the chance to finish in the points. For race two I started ninth again and the first lap was quite good, I made it up to P6, just made a mistake. I dropped to P10 and made a few more mistakes and lost the front group, which is something I need to work on really because there have been a few races where I have lost contact with the riders, and it has cost me in terms of my overall position. I was able to stay with the second group, but it wasn’t enough to finish inside the top fifteen. It has been a positive weekend, but I hope to carry the speed and momentum from qualifying in France to the next race at Aragon which was quite good for me last year. I want to finish the season in a good way!”
